Once you have a website, it’s important to make sure your ideal client can find you. This process is referred to as Search Engine Optimization or SEO, meaning you want to optimize your site for search engines. SEO is part art, and part science.
The Art of SEO
The key to SEO is understanding key words, the words or phrases that your ideal client will type into Google (or Bing, or Yahoo) when they are looking for the services you provide. Targeting keywords is a process that takes time and some trial and error. It is most effective when we work together to determine the clients and services you want to target. I can help you understand the tools that will show you how competitive each area may be and offer suggestions on how you might define a more specific niche, or related keywords that might generate more traffic to your site.
The Science of SEO
There are certain elements in websites that are known to help with search engine placement. These are called page tags. If I design your website, the page tags will be optimized to include your targeted keywords. All of the website elements will be explained so you know how to make adjustments yourself as you target new areas. If you already have a website, I can review the site with you and offer consulting on how to improve your placement.
There are also many free tools available that can help you with search engine placement, such as Google Places, on-line press releases, YouTube channels, and other social media tools. If you’d like to learn more about how you can use any of these tools to increase the visibility of your website, contact me for a free consultation.
